Aussie Bushmaster A Lethal Lifesaver

Daily Telegraph - 2 May 2012

This report by the Telegraph journalist Ian McPhedran includes a video of the Australian Bushmaster firing the Electro Optic Systems’ Remote Weapon Station on operations in Afghanistan. The video displays better than words the excellent stability of the system and provides an insight into how simply it is to operate from the interior of the vehicle. The system shown is our standard R-400 with a .50 calibre machine gun. The system will take smaller calibre weapons and with a minor equipment change, can also mount an automatic grenade launcher.

The system takes the basic infantryman to a completely new level with the ability to apply force. Soldiers can hit the target; first round, first time. This not only assists in saving lives, it reduces the incidence of fratricide through enhanced accuracy and better target identification. The Remote Weapon Station removes the necessity for soldiers to expose themselves in the hatches of the vehicle, ultimately making them less vulnerable to enemy fire and better protected.

Electro Optic Systems is proud of the system we have developed and it continues to illicit praise from the Australian Defence Force, the United States Army and the Netherlands, all of whom are using or have used the system on operations in the Middle East.
